Fundación Laboral del Metal

Fundación Laboral del Metal is a non-profit organisation whose aim is to provide training and employment solutions for the metal industry in the Spanish region of Cantabria. FLM was created by the most important Spanish trade unions: CC.OO and MCA-UGT Cantabria and SME business association Pymetal Cantabria. FLM provides programs for 5.000 companies and 20.000 workers in the region, training 1,200 workers annually. FLM has been developing migrants’ social and labour integration programmes since 2004 as part of its strategy to provide qualified workforce for the metal industry, some of which were considered EU good practice. In this realm, FLM has established a regional network with migrants’ organisations which works cooperatively around FLM’s migrant programmes. Before the economic downturn the insertion rate of these programs was 71%. Currently FLM comprises of a team of 10 employees, 30 teachers and 1,200 students.
