The University of Szczecin

The University of Szczecin is the most important educational body in the West Pomeranian region of Poland, with over 30.000 students completing full-time, evening and part-time studies in 27 subject areas at 13 faculties. One of the University’s objectives is to educate and prepare students for the employment market and adult independent life. Some of the University’s top priorities are joint research programmes and student and staff mobility programs.

The University places special emphasis on international students, offering a number of opportunities to fully integrate in the local community through tailor made development programmes and providing a space for exchange of experiences. The University is also involved in projects directed at promoting young immigrants on the labour market in their host country in Europe.

The University of Szczecin creates a strong scientific research potential by the cooperation with other universities, companies and different institutions, such as local, regional and states governments, IAG organisations. The main area of research of the Faculty of Management and Economics of Services (mainly responsible for the project) is the service sector and it’s structural and institutional changes in Poland and the European Union. The strongest feature of the Faculty is that the research activities are based not only on the theoretical frames of the topic, but also on the experience in cooperation with enterprises acting in the local market. Accomplishing the mission of entrepreneurial University, FMES has been creating SERVICE INTER-LAB Centre for Knowledge and Innovation Transfer for the Services Sector, assisting knowledge transfer and commercialization. Project’s mission may be explained as enhancing education, science and business activity in order to support the regional service sector, through creation of balanced development and building strong links between all elements.
